Circle of Life
Client: Southern Ute Cultural Center and Museum/ North Shore Productions

This film plays on a seven screen circular theater at the Southern Ute Cultural Center and Museum. Traditional stories told by elders are intercut with 360 degree landscapes and historical photos to immerse the visitor in the Ute perspective. Please expand the window for best viewing.
School Life

Southern Ute elders recall their experiences when forced into government boarding schools. Today, the Southern Ute tribe runs its own school, with a focus on reclaiming Ute language and culture.
Dark Water Rising (excerpt)

"Dark Water Rising" is a feature documentary film which follows the heroic efforts of volunteers dedicated to rescuing animals left behind in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The film has been selected to become a part of the permanent archives of the Smithsonian Institute.
Inside Iraq (excerpt)

In 2003, filmmaker Mike Shiley traveled to Iraq to see the reality of the war for himself. The feature film documents his two month journey and now serves as a time capsule capturing the shifting relationship between Iraqis and American soldiers before the insurgency gained strength.

This is an excerpt from an hour long documentary exploring how a person's transgender shift affects their community. Issues of gender expression, race, and class are examined within the dynamics of personal relationships.
Last Days at the Depot (excerpt)

The Umatilla Chemical Weapons Depot is inextricably linked with the townspeople of Hermiston, OR. This half hour documentary reveals the business of burning chemical weapons through the eyes of those living downwind.
